NCC woos Bogota, Kiev for trade ties
KATHMANDU: Nepali businessmen and Colombia’s ambassador to Nepal Juan Alfredo Pinto Saavedra held talks on bilateral trade at the Nepal Chambers of Commerce (NCC) here on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, ambassador Saavedra urged businessmen find out feasible areas of possible joint investment in both countries. He pointed out Nepali products like carpet, Pashmina, Lokta paper and handicraft could be exported to Colombia. Nepal and Colombia have identified hydropower, tourism and agro industries as potential sectors for investment.
Departing NCC president Rajesh Kaji Shrestha called for free trade agreements between Nepal and Colombia. “We should have regular contact to develop good bilateral relations,” he said.
Meanwhile, Ukraine’s ambassador to Nepal Dr Igor Polikha and NCC executives held talks where Dr Polikha called for making bilateral trade ties better. NCC president Surendra Bir Malakar urged him to initiate inking trade agreements between Nepal and Ukraine. He asked Ukrainian investors to invest in competitive sectors like hydropower and tourism.
NCC senior vice-president Suresh Kumar Basnet asked for simplifying visa regulations to boost bilateral relationships. NCC general secretary Kishor Kumar Agrawal stressed on the need for contact between businessmen of both countries.
