KATHMANDU, MAY 2

The Nepal Electricity Authority has recently received a set of advanced and eco-friendly electric distribution transformers.

Ekarat Engineering Pvt Ltd has provided 500 kVA transformers to the authority for free.

A transformer worth approximately Rs 3.2 million has been installed at the main office premises of the authority located in Ratnapark.

The transformer installed is equipped with modern communication tools, allowing the authority to remotely monitor its condition and receive real-time updates on any malfunctions or failures from its main office.

Kush Kumar Joshi, the managing director of the company, handed over the transformer to Kulman Ghising, the managing director of the authority.

This transformer is designed with Germany's MR Company's advanced 'Vacuum Unload Tap Changer' technology and incorporates vegetable oil produced by the American company Car-Gil, making it a highly eco-friendly solution.

Manoj Silwal, deputy managing director of the NEA, stated that the transformer is environmentally-friendly as it uses natural oil, which increases its capacity to dissipate heat, thus reducing the risk of catching fire.

Moreover, the use of natural oil ensures automatic voltage regulation and balance.

An agreement was signed between the authority and the company in August last year for the production and installation of transformers.

NEA has said the transformer can help prevent various incidents that could occur during the electricity supply process and can also be installed on the same utility pole.
