Kathmandu, May 10:

A meeting of Nepal Freight Forwarders Association (NEFFA) and Customs Agents Association of Kolkata (CAAK) has been scheduled for June 15 in Kathmandu.

The meeting has been set after talks between Namgyal Lama, president of NEFFA and Indra Kumar Ghosh, president of CAAK. The meeting is being organised to address the problems being faced in the export and import sector.

Unnecessary hurdles are being created by Indian agents during the export of cargo from India to Nepal while in Nepal, there are several illegal channels for export-import purposes, states a press release issued by NEFFA quoting Lama.

There has been a monopoly by shipping agents and even compensations is not being provided for loss of goods, adds the release, quoting Lama. It is hightime to address problems confronting the export-import sector. If such problems are not addressed in time, business cannot be profitable, said Ghosh.
