Election Commission completes final preparations for March 5 polls
KATHMANDU, JANUARY 10
With 54 days remaining for the House of Representatives (HoR) elections, the Election Commission (EC) has completed preparations to enforce the election code of conduct from January 17, aiming to ensure free, fair and dignified polls.
The EC said the code will regulate the activities of government and non-government bodies, political parties and other stakeholders during the election period.
In this connection, Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari briefed Prime Minister Sushila Karki on Friday about the progress of election preparations, including the printing of election materials and management of human resources.
According to EC spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, the commission has stressed the need for strong cooperation from the government and concerned authorities to strictly implement the code of conduct.
The HoR elections are scheduled for March 5.
