Nepal Chamber Expo kicks off today

Kathmandu, November 29

The third edition of Nepal Chamber Expo 2017 is set to begin in the Capital from Thursday.

The five-day long event is slated to be inaugurated by President Bidhya Devi Bhandari amid a special function at Bhrikutimandap Exhibition Hall, according to Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) — the organiser of the event.

Speaking at a pre-event press conference today, NCC President Rajesh Kazi Shrestha said the event is being organised in coordination with Ministry of Commerce and the Trade and Export Promotion Centre and intends to promote goods with higher competitive advantage.

“Nepal Chamber Expo is a platform where small and large Nepali industries can promote their goods among a wide range of domestic and foreign stakeholders,” said Shrestha.

As per NCC officials, products of different foreign brands will also be displayed during the event. Shrestha stated domestic businesses will also get a chance to brand their products among foreign firms.

Organisers have informed that besides Nepal the event will have participation and stalls of countries like South Korea, Thailand, India, China, Japan, Pakistan and Bangladesh. The expo this year has 225 stalls promoting different goods and services. So far, Korean businesses have booked 23 stalls and businesses from Thailand have booked 15 stalls.

South Korea is the partner country of the event. NCC expects to draw around 300,000 visitors during the expo this year.
