Kathmandu:
Want to buy a refrigerator to beat the heat of this scorching summer? Thinking of installing a cooking range in your newly built home? Don’t have a washing machine? What if you get a microwave oven in your kitchen? No problem! One sure shot solution for all these issues is just around the corner.
Global Exposition and Management Services (GEMS) is organising Home Appliance Expo 2005 for the first time in country starting May 26. The four-day exhibition will include more than 20 authorised distributors that will be displaying and selling a huge array of home appliances. As says Khagendra Baral of GEMS, “This will provide an extended platform for buyers to choose their favourite brand of products and, as far as the sellers are concerned, it will give a fillip to their business since they will get to interact directly with the customers.”
Home appliances have now become a part of our lifestyle. Though till 10-15 years ago, such items were counted as luxury, they are now an integral part of our homes. But the problem is that people were flummoxed as to what to buy and what not and which brand to choose.
On one hand, brand loyalty is gradually increasing in the country and people are becoming more and more conscious about the brands, while on the other distributors are still unable to create a space in people’s homes. “An exposition like this”, says Baral, “will help distributors reach every customer’s home. As buyers would get a ‘see and touch’ experience, the distributors with their special offers come in close contact with the customers.” IFB Home Appliances is the main sponsor of the expo. U-Like Home Pvt Ltd, Whirlpool, Black and Decker, LG, Orpat, Hyundai Electronics, Videocon, Panasonic, Jyotishree Enterprises, TCL, etc are the co-sponsors. The Himalayan Times and Annapurna Post are the official media for the show.
