KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 15

The country received over NPR 263 billion in remittances during the second month of the current fiscal year, compared to NPR 228.37 billion in the same period last year.

"Remittance inflows increased by 15.2 percent to NPR 263.14 billion during this period, following an 18.7 percent rise in the same period of the previous year," stated the Nepal Rastra Bank in its report on the Current Macroeconomic and Financial Situation of Nepal.

In U.S. dollar terms, remittance inflows reached $1.96 billion in the month of Bhadra, up from $1.73 billion in the same period last year, according to the central bank.

The number of Nepali workers-both institutional and individual-seeking first-time approval for foreign employment stood at 76,485, while those seeking approval for re-entry numbered 40,583.
