KATHMANDU, MAY 3

Nepal welcomed 116,490 foreign tourists in April, marking the highest monthly tourist arrival in five years, according to the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB).

The figure surpasses 111,376 arrivals in April 2024 and 98,773 in April 2023, indicating a steady post-pandemic recovery in the tourism sector and renewed global interest in Nepal, the Board said in a statement.

Indian tourists topped the list with 25,933 visitors, followed by the USA (10,053), China (9,037), and the UK (6,838).

Tourist arrivals have surged by 106.5% compared to April 2019, the Board noted.

NTB CEO Deepak Raj Joshi described the increase as "encouraging" and a reflection of Nepal's enduring tourism appeal.

Between January and April 2025, Nepal has received a total of 415,048 foreign visitors, with numbers rising steadily since the beginning of the spring tourist season in March.
