Shuklaphanta National Park welcomed 2,388 visitors in the first six months of the current fiscal year, according to the park office. Among them were 2,181 domestic tourists, 90 from SAARC nations, and 117 other foreign nationals.
Of the total visitors, 1,160 were women and 1,228 men. The highest footfall was recorded in Chaitra (March–April) with 520 visitors, followed by Falgun (460), Poush (432), Mangsir (389), Kartik (316), and Magh (271). Tourist activity was nil during Shrawan, Bhadra, and Asoj due to monsoon conditions.
In fiscal year 2080/81 BS, the park saw a total of 4,574 tourists, including 4,294 domestic, 137 SAARC, and 143 foreign visitors.
Established in 1974, Shuklaphanta spans 305 sq. km and is known for its dense tiger population and the world's largest herd of swamp deer (barasingha). The park is also home to over 53 species of mammals, including rhinos, leopards, blackbucks, and wild elephants, as well as 449 bird species, 35 butterflies, and various reptiles, amphibians, and fish.
