KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 9

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE), the country's sole secondary index, experienced a continued decline on the second trading day of the week, witnessing a drop of 15 points or 0.65 percent on Monday.

The benchmark index opened at 1919.97 points in the morning and continued to decrease until 12:26 PM, reaching 1902.98 points. Subsequently, it initiated a recovery, climbing to 1926.73 points at 13:46 PM. However, it once again faced a downturn, ultimately closing at 1908.66 points.

Likewise, the sensitive index, evaluating the performance of 'A' class stocks, also saw a decline of 0.77 percent, losing 2.83 points to conclude at 364.74 points. Additionally, the float index, reflecting the performance of actively traded shares, experienced a 0.70 percent drop, losing 0.94 points and ending the day at 132.51 points.

In today's trading, all sub-indices recorded losses, with the life insurance index leading the decline with a 1 percent drop, followed by the hotel and tourism index with a 0.97 percent decrease. However, two sub-indices showed gains, with the manufacturing and processing index gaining 0.06 percent and the trading index rising by 0.49 percent.

During today's trading session, a total of 4,327,179 units of shares from 287 companies were exchanged in 48,444 transactions, amounting to a total of NPR 1.170 billion. The total market capitalization on Monday stood at NPR 2.911 trillion.
