KATHMANDU, AUGUST 15
The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) crossed the threshold of 3,000 points on Thursday, rising by 43.05 points or 1.45% to settle at 3,000.81 points by the end of the trading day.
The market witnessed a significant increase in daily turnover, recording Rs 29.9 billion from the exchange of 68,980,346 units of shares of 334 companies in 311,536 transactions. This marks a substantial rise from Wednesday's intraday turnover of Rs 23 billion.
In terms of individual stock movement, 105 companies advanced, 137 declined, and one remained unchanged.
Butwal Power Company Limited (BPCL), Rastriya Beema Company Limited (RBCL), and Modi Energy Limited (MEL) recorded a 10% increase in their share values. Conversely, Nepal Finance Limited (NFC) saw a 10% decline in its share value.
Alongside the increase in the benchmark index, the sensitive index, which evaluates the performance of class 'A' stocks, rose by 3.08%. The float index, which gauges the actively traded shares, also increased by 1.98%.
The market today witnessed five sectors recording losses: Finance (-3.05%), Others (-2.30%), Manufacturing and Processing (-1.73%), Life Insurance (-0.73%), and Microfinance (-0.13%). In contrast, seven sectors recorded gains, with the Banking sector leading the pack at 5.65%, followed by the Investment sector at 2.69% and the Mutual Fund sector at 2.28%.
