KATHMANDU, JANUARY 12

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) declined by 25.41 points (0.96%) on Sunday, closing at 2,609.67 points. This drop also led to a decrease in the daily turnover, which fell to Rs 3.99 billion, with 8,021,631 shares of 301 companies traded across 46,614 transactions.

Key indices showed negative performance across the board. The Sensitive Index, which tracks class 'A' stocks, dropped by 1.01%, while the Float Index, representing actively traded shares, declined by 0.93%.

All sectors ended the day in the red. The Finance sector faced the biggest loss, dropping 3.60%, followed by the Development Bank sector with a 1.60% decline, and the Hydropower sector, which saw a 1.44% drop. The Manufacturing and Processing sector also recorded a 1.36% loss, while the Trading sector fell by 1.10%. Other sectors experienced losses no greater than 1%.

In terms of individual stock performance, Wean Nepal Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (WNLB) emerged as the top performer, with a 10% increase in its share price. On the other hand, Nyadi Hydropower Limited (NYADI) was the worst performer, experiencing a 10% decline.

By the end of the trading session, 44 stocks advanced, 193 declined, and six remained unchanged. The total market capitalization reached Rs 4.328 trillion.
