KATHMANDU, JANUARY 13
The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) continued its downward trend, declining by 15.54 points (0.59%) on Monday to close at 2,594.13 points.
Along with the decline in the benchmark index, key indices also posted negative results. The Sensitive Index, which tracks class 'A' stocks, fell by 0.57%, while the Float Index, representing actively traded shares, dropped by 0.55%.
Despite the index decline, the daily turnover surged significantly to Rs 6.65 billion-an increase from Rs 3.99 billion recorded on Sunday-with 13,870,579 shares of 322 companies changing hands through 64,278 transactions.
All sectors ended the day in the red. The Finance sector recorded the largest loss, down 1.32%, followed by the Trading sector, which fell by 1.89%, and the Hotels and Tourism sector, which declined by 1.32%. Other sectors posted losses below 1%.
Barahi Hydropower Public Limited (BHPL) led the market as the top gainer, with its share price increasing by 10%. On the other hand, Aatmanirbhar Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (ANLB) and Sindhu Bikash Bank Ltd (SINDU) were the worst performers, both experiencing a 10% drop.
At the close of the session, 63 stocks advanced, 175 declined, and five remained unchanged. The total market capitalization decreased to Rs 4.302 trillion.
