KATHMANDU, JUNE 22
The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index fell by 32.93 points, or 1.25%, on Sunday-the first trading day of the week-closing at 2,595.97 points. This follows a 24-point drop recorded on Thursday.
The market remained negative throughout the session, with all sectors ending in the red. The Hotels and Tourism sector posted the steepest loss, plunging 23.13%, followed by the Hydropower sector, which declined by 2.78%.
The Sensitive Index, which measures performance of Class 'A' companies, declined by 1.19%, while the Float Index, which tracks actively traded shares, dropped by 1.29%.
Total turnover for the day stood at Rs 9.14 billion, down from Rs 11.23 billion on Thursday. A total of 21,547,055 units of shares from 310 companies were traded in 87,302 transactions.
Out of the traded stocks, only 23 advanced while 225 declined, reflecting widespread investor pessimism. Pure Energy Limited (PURE) was the only company to hit the 10% lower circuit limit.
At market close, the total market capitalization was recorded at Rs 4.325 trillion.
