Nepse gains 0.2pc

KATHMANDU: Even as the gain in the country’s only secondary market was not as impressive as on Monday, the Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index added another 2.33 points to close at 1,159.93 points on Tuesday. After surging by 10.99 points in early trading, the benchmark index had dived 21.8 points to 1,157.60 points within the next half hour. However, Nepse recovered the loss during the later part of the day to close up 0.2 per cent as compared to Monday’s closing. Hydropower, others and manufacturing subgroups recorded losses, while the rest of the sub-indices witnessed gains. Banking and development banks led the gainers again, increasing by 7.15 points and 6.68 points, respectively. The sensitive index rose by 0.71 point to 252.78 points, while the float index inched up by 0.48 point to 82.65 points. Altogether 2.63 million units of shares of 132 firms worth Rs 761.30 million were traded in 4267 transactions.
