On the occasion of the 125th birth anniversary of Sardar Rudra Raj Pande, one of Nepal's greatest literary figures, educationists, and social reformers, Prof Gargi Sharma was felicitated for her outstanding contributions to Nepali literature here on Monday.

The Rudra Raj Sahitya Sewa Samiti organised the event to recognise his immense contributions to literature, education, and social transformation.

Hiranya Kumari Pathak, Chairperson of the Award Selection Committee, spoke about Prof Gargi Sharma's contributions to Nepali Literature. Dr Gauri Shankar Lal Das, the Chief Guest, presented the award and praised Dr Sharma's commitment to Nepali language and literature.

Das also stated that Sardar Rudra Raj Pande's legacy is an important part of Nepal's literary and educational identity. He encouraged ongoing efforts in literature, education, and social reform motivated by Pande's ideals.

Accepting the award, Dr Gargi Sharma reflected on the current state of Nepali literature, highlighting challenges and opportunities for the next generation.

"I had read his works before getting to know him. In college, I studied Roopmati, one of his most popular novels, and as a Nepali subject teacher, I had the opportunity to teach.

Moreover, his contribution to the education sector is immense. He was more than just a teacher; he was the personification of literature. His contribution will forever be remembered," she said.

The patron of the Samiti Krishna Raj Pande highlighted Sardar Rudra Raj Pande's impact on Nepali language, literature, and education, emphasising how his visionary work continues to inspire future generations.

Meanwhile, the principal of Mauwadevi Higher Secondary School in Dakaha, Bara, delivered a presentation requesting support for the school's expansion, emphasising Sardar Pande's role in its establishment.

In addition, top-performing students from Bhanu Secondary School (Durbar High School) received scholarships to recognise academic excellence and promote educational development.

Dr Neil Pande, General Secretary of Rudra Raj Sahitya Sewa Samiti, has announced that Sardar Pande's works are now available digitally at www.roopmati.com.np, making his literary contributions more accessible to modern audiences.

Dr Badri Raj Pande, President of the Rudra Raj Sahitya Sewa Samiti, urged future generations to embrace and continue Sardar Pande's legacy. He stressed the importance of preserving and promoting his contributions to the betterment of Nepali society.
