KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 26

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index rose by 18.45 points or 0.92 percent to reach 2,022.91 today. Nepse had fallen 5.89 points on Monday.

The benchmark index that had opened at 2006.64 points today had sharply risen to the highest 2030.52 at 11:13 am before starting to fluctuate. The index had reached the lowest at 2013.65 points at 13:14 pm before improving and closing at 2,022.91 at the end of the trading day.

In today's trading, the sensitive index, which measures the performance of class 'A' stocks, also rose by 0.66 percent or 2.56 points to 386.24 points. Similarly, the float index that gauges the performance of shares actually traded also improved by 0.89 percent or 1.24 points to 140.45 points.

Altogether, 8,704,477 shares of 286 scripts were traded during the day through 78,616 transactions, which amounted to a turnover of over Rs 2.093 billion.

Today, Hydropower companies were among the top gainers with Menchhiyam Hydropower Limited, Mankamana Engineering Hydropower Limited, Molung Hydropower Company Limited, and Ghalemdi Hydropower companies being among the top five gainers. Meanwhile, Himalayan Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited, Three Star Hydropower Limited, Laxmi Value Fund 2, Ganapati Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited, and Asha Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha were the top five losers of the day.

In today's trading, only the Hotels and Tourism sub-index was in the red, with a 0.18 percent loss, while all the other indices were in the green. The Hydropower index was the top performer, rising by 3.09 percent today.
