KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 24
The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) recorded a gain of 3.36 points (0.12%), closing at 2,758.75 by the end of Monday's trading session.
The Sensitive Index, which tracks Class 'A' stocks, rose by 0.13%, while the Float Index, which measures actively traded stocks, declined by 0.04%.
The market remained mostly negative, with eight sectors recording losses, while four sectors closed in the green. The Finance sector led the decliners with a 1.21% loss. In contrast, the Others sector recorded the highest gain of 2.50%, followed by the Investment sector with 0.98% and the Manufacturing and Processing sector with 0.97%. The Banking sector posted a marginal 0.08% gain.
Among individual stocks, Guardian Micro Life Insurance Limited (GMLI) surged 10%, hitting its upper circuit limit. Meanwhile, Wean Nepal Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (WNLB) was the worst performer, plunging 10% to hit its lower circuit.
A total of 92 stocks advanced, while 143 stocks declined, and nine stocks remained unchanged.
The day's total turnover reached Rs 11 billion, with 21,110,619 units of shares exchanged across 310 scrips in 103,262 transactions.
By the end of the trading day, the total market capitalization stood at Rs 4.579 trillion.
