KATHMANDU, JANUARY 28

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) witnessed a double-digit surge of 10.37 points on Sunday, marking a 0.49% climb, settling at 2,094.46 points by day's end, kicking off the trading week on a positive note.

As the benchmark index soared, the sensitive index, assessing the performance of 'A' class stocks, experienced a 0.19% uptick, while the float index, reflecting actively traded shares, saw a healthy rise of 0.42%.

The trading floor was a flurry of activity, with four sub-indices dipping, contrasting against the nine that flourished. Notably, the hydropower index stole the spotlight, boasting a significant gain of 1.33%, reigniting investor enthusiasm in the sector.

In the whirlwind of transactions, totaling a turnover of Rs 3.833 billion, 10,751,164 units exchanged hands across 306 companies, in a 100,782 transactions.

Amongst the bustling activity, scrips of 173 companies advanced, while 70 took a dip, and four remained unchanged. Noteworthy performances came from Mid Solu Hydropower Ltd (MSHL) and Mathillo Mailun Jalvidhyut Limited (MMKJL), each experiencing a substantial 10% surge.

Himalayan Reinsurance Limited (HRL) was the top company in terms of turnover (335,345,887.80), and. Meanwhile, Nyagdi Group Power Ltd (NGPL) dominated in terms of volume, with a trading volume of 690,122 units.

The day culminated with the total market capitalization standing tall at Rs 3.289 trillion.
