KATHMANDU, JULY 23

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index experienced a surge of 75.33 points or 3.02% on Tuesday, to settle at 2,563.43 points at the end of the trading day.

Along with the significant rise in the benchmark index, the sensitive index, which evaluates class 'A' stocks, also increased by 2.31%. The float index, which gauges actively traded shares, similarly rose by 3.02%.

Today's daily turnover was recorded at Rs 14.1 billion from the exchange of 39,790,889 units of shares of 317 companies in 171,387 transactions. This marks a slight increase from Monday's intraday turnover of Rs 13.9 billion.

The market was predominantly positive, with all sectors recording gains. The trading sector was the top gainer with a 5.06% increase, followed by the life insurance sector with a 4.45% gain. The non-life insurance sector also followed closely with a 4.37% gain. The hydropower sector rose by 3.97%, the investment sector by 3.87%, and the manufacturing and processing sector and hotels and tourism sectors by 3.77% and 3.14%, respectively.

In terms of individual stocks, 220 companies advanced, 19 declined, and three remained unchanged. Five companies - Bottlers Nepal (Balaju) Limited (BNL), Samriddhi Finance Company Limited (SFCL), Mandu Hydropower Company Limited (MANDU), Hathway Investment Nepal Limited (HATHY), and Nepal Warehousing Company Limited (NWCL) - recorded a 10% gain in their share values.

The total market capitalization stood at Rs 4.067 trillion.
