KATHMANDU, JULY 31

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) today crossed the 2,700-point mark, closing at 2,760.91 points with a gain of 64.26 points or 2.38% at the time of the last trading bell. The index had gained 35 points yesterday.

Along with the surge in the benchmark index, the sensitive index also rose by 2.19%, while the float index increased by 2.28%.

Today, the market was predominantly positive, with all sectors recording gains. The Finance sector was the top performer with an 8.08% gain, followed by the Investment sector with a 6.90% gain. The Others, Development Bank, Hotel and Tourism, Hydropower, and Life Insurance sectors also recorded gains of 3.99%, 3.21%, 2.98%, 2.11%, and 2.10%, respectively.

In terms of individual stocks, 191 companies advanced, while 44 companies declined, and seven remained unchanged.

Today, eight companies-United Ajod Insurance Limited (UAIL), Gurkhas Finance Ltd (GUFL), Shree Investment Finance Co. Ltd. (SIFC), Reliance Finance Ltd (RLFL), Dibyashowri Hydropower Ltd (DHPL), Makar Jitumaya Suri Hydropower Company Limited (MAKAR), Nepal Republica Media Limited (NRM), and Kutheli Bukhari Small Hydropower Limited (NWCL)-recorded a 10% increase in their share values.

Amidst this, the daily turnover also recorded Rs 21.9 billion from the exchange of 50,967,951 units of shares of 332 companies in 238,272 transactions. The total intraday turnover on Tuesday was Rs 17 billion.

The total market capitalization stood at Rs 4.380 trillion.
