KATHMANDU, JULY 21
The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) continued its upward trajectory on Sunday, rising by 61.61 points or 2.54% to settle at 2,485.94 points, marking the highest level in recent years.
The daily turnover also remained robust, recording Rs 15 billion, resulting from the exchange of 41,195,534 shares of 315 companies in 177,467 transactions. This mirrors the high turnover achieved on Thursday.
Along with the increase in the benchmark index, the sensitive index, which evaluates class 'A' stocks, rose by 3.10%, while the float index, which gauges actively traded shares, increased by 2.60%.
The market was predominantly positive, with the Trading sector leading the pack of gainers with a significant 6.80% increase. This was followed by the Hotels and Tourism sector, which gained 4.21%, the banking sector with 3.86%, and the Others sector with 3.38%.
In terms of individual stocks, 181 companies advanced, 56 declined, and five remained unchanged. Notably, United Modi Hydropower Ltd. (UMHL) and Samata Gharelu Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (SAMATA) saw a 10% increase in their share values. Despite the overall positive market environment, Sikles Hydropower Limited (SIKLES) lost 10% in its share values.
The total market capitalization stood at Rs 3.944 trillion today.
