New chair at AFAA

KATHMANDU: The General Body of the Asian Federation of Advertising Associations (AFAA) at its 19th General Body meeting held recently in Taipei elected Raymond So, representing the Taipei Association of Advertising Agencies as the chairman of its Executive Committee for a period of four years. On being elected as chairman, Raymond said, “I am delighted to be elected the new chairman of AFAA. AFAA has taken many successful new initiatives in the past four years with the support of our members.” He added that he would work to further unify member associations to address key issues and opportunities in advertising in the new digital world. Srinivasan K Swamy, representing the Advertising Council of India (ACI) was elected vice chairman. The new four-person Executive Committee consists of Ramesh Narayan of ACI as chief strategy officer, Lee Soon Dong of Korea Federation of Advertising Associations as chief revenue officer, Bharat Avalani of Malaysian Advertisers Association as chief knowledge officer and Harris Thajeb of KomisiPeriklanan Indonesia as chief marketing officer. AFAA is well known in the Asian region for the biennial AFAA AdAsia Congress its members organise. AdAsia 2017 will be held in Bali, in November. AFAA has also helped incubate DigiAsia which will be held on November 14-17, in Taipei and the AFAA FastTrack, a professional training programme, which will be held early next year in Kuala Lumpur.
