KATHMANDU, JULY 15
The executive committee members of Nepal-India Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NICCI) led by NIC- CI President Shreejana Rana paid courtesy call to newly appointed Ambassador of India to Nepal Naveen Srivastava today.
Welcoming the ambassador, Rana discussed NICCI's contribution for development of Nepal-India bilateral trade, transit, investment, energy and tourism over the last 30 years. She emphasised that NICCI will remain proactive for bilateral development in these areas for which continuous support from the ambassador and the embassy plays a crucial role. The delegation also informed the ambassador on the activities done by the chamber and planned programmes.
NICCI President Rana also touched upon the importance of bilateral tourism.
She briefed the ambassador about two Nepal-India Bilateral Tourism Promotion Joint Working Group meetings that have taken place in the last few years which was facilitated by NICCI. She requested for support of the Embassy of India as in the past for the third meeting of the Tourism Joint Working Group to be held in India as the meeting takes place alternatively in India and Nepal every two years and the third meeting is supposed to be hosted by India this time.
Ambassador Srivastava thanked the team for the visit and informed that India has always been supporting the development of Nepal. He expressed his assurance to support NICCI's activities in the days ahead.
Ambassador Srivastava along with First Secretary (Commerce) Abhishek Upadhyay were present in the meeting from the embassy and the other delegates of NICCI included Vice-President Sunil KC, Secretary General Ramesh Sharma, Treasurer Kunal Kayal. Other NICCI members included executive committee members Achyut Prasad Kharel, Arun KC, Batu Lamichhane, Ravi Kumar Rayavaram, Sushama Sharma; Saibal Ghosh, permanent invitee; Keshab Man Singh, director general; and Marshal Rathour, deputy director.
The executive committee meeting held today also nominated the office bearers from the executive members elected from the 27th AGM of NICCI and also nominated other executive committee members as per the constitution of NICCI.
