Niche market for organic tea

Organic tea from Ilam can grab a niche market at the international level.

German tea expert and trader of Nepali organic tea Thomas Alls said organic tea has a good future. He added it should be grown on a large scale, especially when the demand for orthodox tea is on the rise in Nepali markets.

Udaya Chapagain, proprietor of Organic Group, said organic tea farmers have a crucial role in grabbing the international market.

According to workers, a kg of organic tea costs Rs 50. Due to decreasing tea market, tea farmers here reduced using chemical pesticides.
