NMA Annapurna chapter forms body

The newly established Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA), Annapurna Chapter, formed 11-member committee in its first general meeting on Mangsir 7.

the general meeting has elected Hari Dhoj Tulachan as the chairman, Ram Bahadur Shrestha as vice-chairman, Khadga Bahadur Ranabhat as secretary and Basu Dev Parajuli as treasurer. Ram Prasad Gurung, Laxmi Bahadur Bhattarai, Lucky Karki Chettri, Kripa Kumar Gurung, Basu Dev Tripathi, Ganesh Bahadur Bhattarai and Biru Bamjan are elected the members.

Ang Tshiring Sherpa, chairman of NMA, inaugurating the general meeting of the ad hoc committee of the Pokhara chapter said that the chapter is planning to increase the regional activities. The chapter would organise and help the programmes on mountaineering.

It would help to train and create awareness on environmental issues as well as develop the International Mountaineering Museum, informed Padam Bahadur KC, chairman of the ad hoc committee. Sherpa informed that the NMA is preparing to organise the golden jubilees celebrations of Choyu in 2004, Kanchanjunga and Makalu in 2005 and Manaslu and Lhotse in 2006. He added that there is a probable programme of Mountain Film Festival in near future.
