KATHMANDU: The 493rd meeting of the board of directors of Nepal SBI Bank Ltd (NSBL) held on Monday unanimously elected Jayati Bansal, director representing State Bank of India to the post of chairperson of the board of directors of Nepal SBI Bank Ltd.

Bansal is currently posted as chief general manager, International Banking at SBI's International Banking Group, Corporate Office, Mumbai, India. As the Head of International Banking, Bansal is responsible for overseas strategy, business development, operational efficiency and operations of overseas banking subsidiaries/joint ventures across the globe, as per a media release. Bansal also took the oath of office and secrecy from the Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank,

Maha Prasad Adhikari amidst a ceremony at Nepal Rastra Bank, Central Office, Baluwatar. Meanwhile, NSBL expanded its branch network with a new branch at Budhanilkantha, Kathmandu.

The branch was inaugurated by NSBL Chairperson Bansal in presence of Pinaki Nath Banerjee, director; Dipak Kumar De, managing director and CEO; Priya Ranjan, DGM, SBI; Md Rizwan Alam, deputy CEO and chief financial officer; Yadvender Kant, chief operating officer; Chhapi Raj Pant, advisor, new business; Ritesh Aryal, chief business development officer and other officials along with the customers of the bank amidst a small function.
