Office of Honorary Consul opened in Seattle
Kathmandu, April 30
The Office of the Honorary Consul of Nepal for Seattle was inaugurated in Washington state of the United States of America on Saturday. Ambassador of Nepal to the US Dr Arjun Karki and John Marcin, mayor of City of Raymond, jointly inaugurated the consular office in Raymond of Seattle.
Speaking in the event, Ambassador Karki informed that a help desk has been established in Seattle for two days where Nepalis residing in the area can avail all services provided by the embassy.
Similarly, the newly appointed Honorary Consul for Seattle, AC Sherpa, expressed his commitment to duly fulfil all the responsibilities that have been entrusted in him by the Nepal government. “This trust has inspired me to work better for the society and take care of the interest of Nepalis here,” said Sherpa in a press statement.
Expressing happiness on the establishment of Consul Office, Mayor Marcin said that the city office was ready to solve any problem that Nepalis residing there could face.
Meanwhile, Sonam Lama, regional coordinator of Non-Resident Nepali Association National Coordination Council in US, was honoured for her contribution in post-earthquake reconstruction work through NRN campaign in Nepal.
In the programme, NRN US President Dr Keshab Paudel focused on need to rise above barriers created by society to achieve national unity. “NRN US is ready to act as a bridge to unite the Nepali society here.”
Honorary Consul Sherpa also handed over Rs 450,000 to construct a community building in Tingla of Solukhumbu. On the occasion, Economic Counsellor at Nepali Embassy, Kailash Raj Pokhrel, presented a paper on various agreements made between Nepal and the US.
