Panasonic Life Solutions India, one of the largest manufacturers of electrical construction materials (ECM) in India, recently launched its international interior solutions showroom in Teku, Kathmandu. It is its 21st exclusive housing solutions franchise showroom in SAARC region and first in Kathmandu. Rahul Thakkar, general manager of Housing Division, Panasonic Life Solutions India Pvt Ltd, spoke with Kiran Lama of The Himalayan Times about the company's products, showroom, future plans, among others. Excerpts:

Can you shed light on the reason behind Panasonic Life Solutions India choosing Nepal to launch its first international interior solution showroom?

When we conducted a one-year research in Nepal, the data showed that Nepalis are spending a good amount on lifestyle solutions. And the per capita spending on the interior of house in Nepal is stronger than in other SAARC countries. Moreover, the interior choice and demand in Nepal is also similar to that of Indian households, which also prompted us to choose Nepal to launch our interior solutions showroom.

What is your unique selling proposition?

We're based on a traditional way of interior designing. However, with the changing times, there is a growing demand for innovative housing solutions among tech savvy consumers. Hence, the company is collaborating with Rukmani International in Nepal and aims to offer innovative housing solutions through a holistic first-hand experience to the consumers.

How will Panasonic Life Solutions' global expertise act as a catalyst for Kathmandu real estate players, architects, interior designers, and consumers?

Panasonic is not just about luxury, we also provide solutions for the masses. With products ranging from advanced housing solutions like the modular kitchens, wardrobes, electronic toilet seat (ETS), clothes drying system, revolving shoe rack and seated shower for the residential, commercial, and industrial segment, we enable the consumers to experience the next-generation technology. So it's our durable and hassle-free products which really act as a catalyst for Kathmandu real estate players, architects, interior designers, and consumers, giving an unparalleled experience of enhanced safety, comfort, and convenience. So, we have competency, backup, and experience also which I think will build the confidence of influencers and consumers.

What are your future plans for Nepal?

Initially, our plan is to be connected to more type A, type B cities like Kathmandu, Pokhara, Birgunj. Secondly, we plan to expand our stores. And thirdly, we plan to introduce a wider range of products that are not only limited to the kitchen but also the bedroom, living room and even offer exterior solutions.
