Paudel meets Chinese finance minister
Kathmandu, January 17
Nepal has asked Beijing to fix dates for meetings of high-level bilateral mechanisms ahead of Prime Minister KP Oli’s visit to China. The request was made today by Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel during a meeting with his Chinese counterpart, Lou Jiwei.
“Issues on bilateral trade, transit and investment should be finalised before PM’s visit to China,” a press statement issued today by Finance Minister’s secretariat quoted Paudel as saying.
During the meeting, Minister Paudel also sought additional support from the Chinese government in supply of petroleum products, infrastructure development and investment promotion.
Paudel is currently in Beijing to attend the first meeting of the Board of Governors of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, a new China-led multilateral development bank, which will finance infrastructure projects in Asia.
