Perodua opens new showroom

Kathmandu, June 3 :

Nemlink International Traders Pvt Ltd, authorised distributor of Perodua cars for Nepal, has opened its new showroom at Panipokhari, Kathmandu.

Mahinder Singh, Malaysian ambassador to Nepal and Hafiz Bin Syed Abu Bakar, chairman of Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd jointly inaugurated the new showroom today. Nemlink has just shifted its showroom from Thapathali to Panipokhari.

Mehika Dhakwa, managing director of Nemlink International Traders said that new showroom is roomier than previous one and has a perfect ambience for checking out and buying Perodua cars. She also informed that the company plans to bring new models of Perodua in near future.

Perodua, a Malaysian company in collaboration with Daihatsu, specialises in small compact cars suitable for narrow roads of Nepal and Kathmandu in particular, Dhakwa added.

Perodua was first introduced in Nepal some six years back with 850cc Kancil. In 2004, it added 1000cc Kelisa, a slightly bigger and more spacious. “Perodua has been steadily growing and establishing its brand name in Nepal as a compact, comfortable, fuel efficient car,” she added.

“Although Perodua presently focusing on domestic market, we are also looking to expand our overseas presence,” said Hafiz Bin. Perodua has increased its plant capacity to 200,000 unit cars a year and coming up with aggressive marketing plans, he said.

“Over one million of six different models of Perodua is already on the roads, while there are only about 150 units in Nepal. We want to have more customers in the coming days,” he added.
