Passports to be printed and dispatched on schedule following fresh consignment

KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 24

The Department of Passports has announced that passport printing and distribution will continue smoothly after receiving an additional 396,000 passport booklets under an interim supply arrangement approved by the Government of Nepal.

According to the notice issued by the Department, the fresh supply comes as part of a government decision to procure an additional 700,000 passport booklets along with personalization and related services to address rising demand.

With the new stock in place, the Department stated that it has resumed passport personalization at full capacity and is preparing to dispatch passports to applicants through district and area administration offices, as well as Nepali missions abroad, on a fixed schedule.

Applicants who submitted passport applications through district or area administration offices up to mid-November (Kartik 15) have already had their passports dispatched, as per an earlier notice. Passports for applicants who applied between mid-November and mid-December (up to Mangsir 15) are currently being printed and will be dispatched by mid-January (Poush 15).

For applicants who submitted their applications after Mangsir 15, the Department stated that passports will be printed and dispatched sequentially after Poush 15, following the existing process.

Similarly, passports for applicants who applied through Nepali diplomatic missions abroad will continue to be printed and sent according to the regular schedule.

The Department also informed that sufficient appointment slots have been made available for applicants seeking passport services directly from the Department of Passports. In such cases, passports are generally issued within two working days, as per the standard timeline.
