KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 24

The foundation stone for a new school building at Shree Ninyukharka Secondary School in Dhurkot Rural Municipality–3, Gulmi, was laid on Tuesday under an Indian government-supported development initiative.

The ceremony was jointly conducted by Gitanjali Brandon, Counsellor at the Embassy of India in Kathmandu, and Bhupal Pokharel, Chairperson of Dhurkot Rural Municipality.

The project, being implemented as a High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP), is supported by a financial grant of Rs 38 million from the Government of India and will be executed through the local government.

According to the Embassy of India, the new infrastructure will consist of a two-storey school building equipped with classrooms, furniture, and related facilities aimed at improving the learning environment for students in the area.

Local representatives, school management committee members, and community stakeholders welcomed the initiative, noting its contribution to strengthening educational infrastructure in rural Gulmi.

India and Nepal continue to cooperate in a wide range of development sectors, with HICDPs playing a role in supporting Nepal's local-level development priorities, the Embassy stated.
