Project implemented under High Impact Community Development Programme

KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 18

A newly constructed school building of Diding Basic School in Chichila Rural Municipality–3, Sankhuwasabha, Koshi Province, built with financial assistance from the Government of India, was jointly inaugurated on Thursday.

The facility was inaugurated by Basist Nandan, First Secretary at the Embassy of India in Kathmandu, and Pasang Nurbu Sherpa, Chairman of Chichila Rural Municipality. The project was implemented as a High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP) through the local government.

Diding Basic School, established in 1962, provides education from Early Childhood Development (ECD) to Grade Five. The newly built infrastructure includes classrooms and allied facilities aimed at improving the learning environment for students, according to the press release issued by the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu.

Local representatives, school management and stakeholders welcomed the support provided by the Government of India, expressing confidence that the new infrastructure would help strengthen the education sector in the area.

As close neighbours, India and Nepal are engaged in wide-ranging and multi-sectoral cooperation. The implementation of HICDPs reflects the continued support of the Government of India in bolstering the developmental efforts of the Government of Nepal, apart from augmenting infrastructure in priority sectors at the grassroots level, the embassy said.
