PM tells minister to immediately solve fuel shortage

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Monday directed Minister for Supplies Deepak Bohara to immediately take initiatives in order to solve the fuel shortage, which Kathmandu is reeling under  for last two days.

"Information has been received that there is a shortage of petroleum products in the Valley," Dahal told the Minister over telephone today, as quoted in a statement issued by the PM's Secretariat, "There are queues in front of petrol pumps. What are reasons behind it?"

"Make efforts for its immediate solution," he added.

In response, Bohara told the PM that there were some problems in the fuel supply to the Valley as offices remained closed for three consecutive days last week (due to Janai Purnima, Gaijatra and Saturday holidays).

He also informed that the Ministry of preparing to normalise the supply and ensure that such shortage would not surface in the future.

Meanwhile, Dahal also asked the Minister to monitor market regularly to ensure availability of daily consumables including petroleum products, according to the statement.
