Political stability to bolster trade, investment

Kathmandu, January 20:
Michel Jolivet, ambassador of France to Nepal, has said that political stability would play a vital role in fostering bilateral trade and investment relations between the two countries.
Envoy Jolivet made this remark while addressing an interaction with the office bearers of the Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI), today. He also underlined two sectors namely tourism and hydropower, that have vast potentials in extending bilateral relationship between the two countries.
Rajendra Kumar Khetan, acting president of CNI, urged the envoy to extend French support in economic development of Nepal. He also said that the French government could support Nepal and the Nepali private sector in areas of trade, investment, and tourism.
Stating that Nepal is passing through a critical phase, Khetan said that a developed country like France could help Nepal by making investment in various potential sectors. On the occasion, CNI members asked the ambassador for setting up joint ventures ensuring investment, human resource development and technology transfer. They also requested for a broader market access for Nepali garment and handicrafts exports to France.
