Prez opens women’s trade expo

Kathmandu, March 7:

President Dr Ram Baran Yadav today opened an expo by South Asian women entrepreneurs to mark 99th International Women’s Day at United World Trade Centre here.

Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Pakistan and India have stalls in this ‘Solidarity of South Asian Women’ expo displaying metal, paper and wood craft. There are 56 stalls representing Nepal.

Pakistan, Bhutan, Bangladesh and India each have one stall, said Janaki Shah, joint coordinator of Tewa.

On the occasion, Minister for Industry Asta Laxmi Shakya said that the new industrial policy has provisions to encourage more women entrepreneurs. Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry vice-president Suraj Baidhya regretted women were the worst hit by the global crisis.
