Price hike makes life hell for folks

KATHMANDU: The sharp rise in the prices of commodities including foodstuff has made life very difficult for the ordinary people.

Compared to the previous year, prices of more than 40 per cent of consumer goods in the market have increased. Not only housewives, students staying in the capital for higher studies are also feeling the heat. Kamal Basnet, who studies at Nepal Humanities College is deeply worried at the spiralling price rise. “One cannot continue studies here in such a situation,” he said.

Suntali Kumari who lives off by selling roasted maize on a footpath in the capital said life is becoming harder for people like her.

Students, employees working in lower posts and people with low income are alike reeling under the impact of the exorbitant rise.
