Probe committee formed

Kathmandu, June 4

The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation (MoCTCA) has formed a five-member probe committee to investigate the increasing trend of fake insurance claims in the trekking and mountaineering sectors.

The probe committee is led by Joint Secretary at MoCTCA Ghanashyam Acharya.

The probe committee was formed amid rising complaints related to fake insurance claims in the name of trekkers and mountaineers suffering from different health issues. MoCTCA officials suspect that such fake insurance claims were being made by showing fake documents in conjunction with travel and trekking firms, helicopter operators and hospitals.

The probe committee will be responsible to investigate this trend, identify those involved in the process, recommend actions against the guilty and suggest effective measures to control such incidences within one month.
