KATHMANDU, AUGUST 7

The Public Procurement Monitoring Office (PPMO) is to operate 'Procurement Clinic'.

The clinic will be operated with the objective of resolving the problems faced in connection with issues of public procurement through capacity development of the human resources involved in the procurement unit and work since the public procurement is a complex and technical topic.

Secretary at the PPMO Damodar Regmi told RSS that the 'procurement clinic interactive programme' is being run wherein the participants share the challenges in public procurement and the experts offer them feasible solutions.

"Procurement clinic will be operated soon for the employees of the local level and the province level as well as the procurement clinic is a successful international practice and the capacity of the human resources involved in the procurement job can be developed through this method," said PPMO Secretary Regmi.

The office is also preparing to develop a general guideline on public procurement so as to simplify the issues related to the public procurement process, which in itself is a technical issue and its laws are complex.

The simple guideline will be prepared as promptly as possible for resolving problems related to public procurement faced by the provincial and local level offices as well, besides those faced by federal offices.

PPMO Secretary Regmi further added that intensive training on e-procurement would also be held for enhancing the public procurement capacity of the local and provincial governments.
