Kathmandu, June 14:

Minister for finance Madhukar SJB Rana today said that the ministry of finance does not know about Dr Tulsi Giri owing Rs 17.4 million to Nepal Bank Ltd (NBL). Credit Information Bureau has already blacklisted Dr Giri as a defaulter. Talking to journalists on the sidelines of a programme organised by the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), Rana commented that he did not know about Dr Giri’s ‘case’ with NBL and whether the default, if any, is ‘wilful or ‘not wilful’.

However, Rana assured journalists that the government would take necessary actions against wilful defaulters. Pointing out to Dr Giri’s loan issue, he said that it might be a political issue. He also said that NBL has not written anything to the ministry for finance for necessary actions

against wilful defaulters. Speaking at the function ‘Financial Sector Development in Nepal’ Rana said that the financial sector has developed from non-monetised traditional form to a market-oriented contribution to our national GDP.
