Rupandehi gets 23 dev projects

Twenty-three development projects have been sanctioned for the district of Rupandehi in the current fiscal year. The projects are supported by Decentralised Finance and Development Programme (DFDP), which in turn is funded by UNDP since 2002.
According to Dhruba Shrestha, the DDC project supervision and administrative officer, among the projects, 20 are VDC level and three are district level.
The DDC-Rupandehi stated that the VDC level projects would be implemented in the VDCs of Ama, Jogada, Anandban, Khadwabangai, Semlar, Bagaha, Pasasari, Western Amuwa, Kerwani, Makrahar, Parroha, Madhabaliya, Gagoliya, Lumbini, Devdaha, Chhotki Ramnagar, Patkhauli, Sipawa, Bhagwanpur and Dhudhraksha.
District level projects would be executed in Padasari, Lumbini and Ama VDCs. Shrestha said the projects comprise of irrigation, health, income generation and infrastructure development.
The projects would require an estimated Rs 1,36,00,577 out of which Rs 70,22,578 would be given by DEDP, the DDC would contribute Rs 8,48,185 while VDCs would be providing Rs 6,11,147 and locals would contribute Rs 15,54,677, Shrestha said.
He said the projects aimed at poverty eradication by the development of infrastructure and human resources. Meanwhile, the government has decided to operate 203 projects in the district in the current fiscal year with support from locals’ labour contribution.
He added the government had initiated locals’ labour contribution based programmes in 40 districts having development index below the national index from this year.
To run the programme, the DDC Rupandehi had advertised for the projects in media.
The sanctioned projects include 32 drinking water and sewage plans, 25 irrigation projects, 74 road projects, 11 bridges, 10 river control projects, 30 school building construction projects, three health centre construction projects.
