Send Home A Friend project to run till 2010

Kathmandu, February 9:

Send Home a Friend-Nepal for all Seasons — a pilot campaign launched by the government to forge partnerships with non-resident Nepalis (NRNs) in different parts of the world and get their support in promoting Nepal’s tourism — has been scheduled to continue throughout 2009 and 2010 also.

The campaign was announced during the third NRNA Conference in Kathmandu in October 2007. Internationally launched in London on November 17, 2007, Send Home a Friend started on January 1, 2008.

In 2008, the campaign was promoted by Nepal Tourism Board in all the programmes, fairs, sales mission it participated globally.

The campaign was promoted in Helsinki, Finland, during MATKA in January 20, 2008; in Berlin, Germany, on March 8, and in Antwerp, Belgium, on March 9 coinciding with the ITB 2008 in Bangladesh during NTB’s Bangladesh Sales Mission from March 13-24, 2008; in Seoul, Korea, during KOTFA on April 27, 2008; in Tokyo, Japan, during JATA on June 14, 2008 and at many more places.

The campaign will run through 2009 and 2010 to garner support from the vast network of NRNs and Nepali embassies abroad, said Nepal Tourism Board (NTB).

Throughout this period, NTB will provide collaterals to the international Nepali community and friends of Nepal for effective promotion of the campaign and to promote Nepal as a premier holiday destination. Meanwhile, it will keep gearing up for Nepal Tourism Year 2011 (NTY 2011), a campaign that has recently launched by the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation (MoTCA).
