Service charge exemption under consideration

KATHMANDU: Nepal has requested waiver of GST levied on certain services, like transportation, cargo handling, insurance, among others, that are consumed by Nepali traders during import and export from/to third countries.

According to Commerce Secretary Naindra Prasad Upadhyay, the government has written to the GST Council of India to waive the tax, asking that the service consumed by Nepali traders be considered as service export and the GST Council has taken the request of Nepal positively, according to Upadhyay.
