SEZ to be made operational soon

BUTWAL: Minister for Industry Som Prasad Pandey has said that the Special Economic Zone (SEZ), the only such zone in the nation, would come into operation within a year. He clarified that the zone would be brought into operation by changing the current policy. Talking at a press meet in Butwal today, Minister Pandey informed that the government would formulate laws for the operation of the zone while developing infrastructure and security. He further said that entrepreneurs have complained that the rate of rent for the zone was high and it would be addressed by formulating a committee. Minister Pandey added that the government was positive in providing subsidy to entrepreneurs who have been hit hard by the general strike and the nation itself was facing various problems due to the general strike and border blockade. He added that the government was holding discussions with the banks to provide concession on interest. The industry minister added that the government would provide fuel to the industries by bringing it from other nations.
