Six herbs to be grown commercially
LAMJUNG: Six species of herbs in Lamjung district have been selected for commercial development and sale. The herbs were selected at a herb farming identification programme held here recently under the joint auspices of the Lamjung Chambers of Commerce and Industry and District Forest Office, Lamjung. Herbs selected include chirainto, lokta, elainchi, kurilo and tejpat, Bhola Poudel of the Chamber said. Locations for commercial farming of these herbs have also been identified. The Chamber has also decided to organize different types of training in order to raise awareness about the possibility of herb farming in all VDCs of the district.
At the programme, Chief of the District Forest Office, Ramkaji Shrestha and president of Sarbodaya Sewashram, Lamjung, Krishna Raj Oliya presented working papers on herbs while Planning Officer of the District Development Committee, Ramkaji Shrestha, and secretary of the Handicrafts Industry Association Pashupati Neupane offered their comments on these.
