Sluggish public spending affects national pride projects, says Finance Minister
KATHMANDU: The White Paper that the government made publicon Tuesday stated that the pace of public spending has been quite low though the current fiscal year has been declared the budget execution year.
Due to the continued protests in Tarai-Madhes and disruption of essential goods at Nepal-India border, the execution of development project has been seriously affected.
The implementation of the national pride projects which were badly hampered following the April 25 earthquake have been further affected due to the protests and Indian unofficial trade embargo.
It is stated that Rs 107.34 billion of the total allocated budget of Rs 819 billion has been expended during the first quarter of the current fiscal. It has also immoderately affected the revenue collection, reads the paper.
The government has been engaging its political and diplomatic efforts to resolve the problems facing the country due to continued protests and disruption of supply system. All alternatives have been explored to ensure the smooth supply of goods and services, stated the white paper.
