ILAM: The biggest hydropower project in the eastern region is closed for the last two weeks.

A glitch in the power turbine has brought power generation to a halt in Triveni Hydropower Project at Mabu VDC in Ilam district. More than 400 people of Mabu and

Majhuwa VDCs are living in darkness, said Dil Bahadur Gurung, chairman of electricity consumers’ committee. He said the problem

is a recurring one.

The power project was constructed at a cost of Rs. 2.6 million contributed by locals and Namsiling Community Development Centre apart from Rs 1.3 million contributed by consumers.
