‘Snowstorm caused chopper crash in Taplejung’

Kathmandu, June 27

An investigation committee’s report has stated that the chopper carrying seven passengers including late tourism minister Rabindra Adhikari had crashed due to bad weather.

The Air Dynasty Chopper had crashed on February 27 while returning from Pathibhara to Kathmandu.

A committee formed to investigate the Taplejung chopper crash submitted the report to Tourism State Minister Dhan Bahadur Budha on Wednesday.

According to the report, the climate became worse soon after minister Adhikari landed at Pathibhara. The team was waiting for the weather to be favourable for take-off. After a while, the weather cleared up and they decided to push off from Pathibhara.

However, soon after, a snowstorm worsened the climate and the pilot did not even get a chance to balance the chopper.

The report further mentions that the incident clearly occurred due to the snowstorm and the pilot was not under pressure to operate the chopper in the bad weather.
