South Asian women’s exhibition wraps up

Kathmandu, March 9:

Some 5,000 visitors visited the three-day South Asian women entrepreneurs’ trade expo that concluded here today.

“We are satisfied as participants had direct interaction with buyers about their products,” said Smita Pandey, fund-raising officer at TEWA.

She said there was good spot trade. “Sale of edible products was tops, followed by pashmina products,” she added.

There are more than 1,000 organisations led by women. which are supporting women in generating income.

Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, India and Pakistan participated the expo that was inaugurated on Saturday by President Dr Ram Baran Yadav.

The exhibition was organised to celebrate 99th International Women’s day.

The Federation of Women Entrepreneurs’ Association of Nepal (FWEAN), SAARC Chambers of Women Entrepreneurs Council (SCWEC), Association of St Mary’s Alumni Nepal (ASMAN) and TEWA jointly organised the event.
